Our Story

For G-ma

Paso Pan is a tribute to my grandmother, Gregoria — or “G-ma,” as I lovingly called her.

Born in Dilley, Texas, G-ma was a woman full of life. She loved to laugh, she loved to dance, and she loved to look beautiful. She was a beautician by trade, so you could count on one thing: her makeup was always done before she left the house. She dressed glamorously, adorned herself with plenty of jewelry, and always made an entrance.

But some of my favorite memories of her happened in the kitchen. G-ma taught me how to bake and spent countless hours making dough by hand for all kinds of Mexican-style recipes. She taught me that good food takes time, love, and a willingness to get your hands messy.

“Work hard, be happy.”

One of the most special pieces of her kitchen was her rolling pin — a simple broomstick that had been repurposed as a wedding gift. It wasn’t fancy, but it was hers. With it, she rolled out countless batches of dough, turning simple ingredients into food meant to be shared.

To me, that little rolling pin represents so much of what she passed down: resourcefulness, tradition, hard work, creativity, and love.

Paso Pan carries that spirit forward — honoring G-ma’s kitchen, her traditions, and her joy, one loaf, one roll, and one piece of handmade dough at a time.
